1. Two of America's most iconic fast food brands got their start in Wichita, KS. The first was White Castle in 1921 with their famous mini-slider burgers. Interestingly enough, though, White Castle hasn't had a restaurant location in Wichita since 1938, despite finding its start there. Wichita was also the birthplace of the first Pizza Hut, opened by Dan and Frank Carney in 1958. The name itself was conceived by the brothers due to two factors: the building looked like a hut, and the name of the restaurant could only be nine letters long.
