15 Spring Break Vacation Hacks

Nothing beats the excitement of spring break vacation plans! It is almost time to leave behind the dull, dreary winter days for sunshine, relaxation, good food, lots of laughs, and quality time together. As you are getting ready to head out on spring break, take a look at these practical tips for an enjoyable and affordable vacation.

  1. If you have already booked your accommodations for spring break, periodically check the going rates for the time of your stay. Using a refundable reservation (especially at a hotel), you can rebook at a lower rate if you see the prices have dropped.
  2. Book a hotel or condo that comes with a kitchen or, at the minimum, a refrigerator and microwave. Eating out every meal of your spring break can break your bank account!
  3. If you are visiting a new city for a few days, check to see if they offer a multi-attraction pass that can save you money over buying attraction passes individually.
  4. When on a long road trip, frequently check the GPS even if you know where you are going. Use an app that searches for accidents and traffic jams so you can make an early detour before it is too late.
  5. Bring car activities like art supplies, decks of cards, or magnetic games for the kids.
  6. Inform your credit or debit card company before traveling so that you’re authorized for vacation purchases.
  7. To save money eating out at restaurants, соnѕіdеr filling everyone up for lunсh instead оf dinner. You will have less trouble finding a table, plus you will benefit from discounted prices on the same food during lunchtime.
  8. Take pictures of your most important documents like your passport and driver’s license. They’ll be much easier to replace than if you hadn’t.
  9. To remember where you parked, drop a pin in a map app on your phone or take a picture of your parking space and the surrounding areas.
  10. Bring a portable phone charger or charging case for when you are too busy having fun to stop for a charge.
  11. When packing, roll your clothes instead of folding them. It’s a total space saver, and rolled clothes tend to wrinkle less than folded clothes.
  12. Place a dryer sheet in your suitcase with your clothes to keep them smelling fresh.
  13. Wrap your shoes in a shower cap to prevent the soles from touching your clean clothes. Shower caps are complimentary at many hotels.
  14. Pack a first aid kit. Packing band-Aids, antibacterial cream, stomach antacids, pain killers, cold meds, and throat lozenges might save you the inconvenience of tracking down a pharmacy while you are trying to have fun.
  15. Sunburn? If you forgot to pack the aloe, you could use milk to cool down your skin. Just dip a cloth in the milk, wring it out and wipe down your burning skin. Slathering your skin with yogurt will also work!
